Mighty Fin is the latest release from Launching Pad games, and is a fun little game available as a Universal App on iOS. In this title you control the main character Fin as you try to make your way through the treacherous and deadly “Round the World Tour.”
The game starts out with pretty basic gameplay. Hold your finger on the screen to keep Fin diving low or let go to make him jump up into the air. The object of the game is to collect point bubbles along the way and chain them together go get a high score. The bubbles also act as a guide to help you make your way to the end of each level, which comes in very handy because the levels are never the same twice. Following the bubble trails will help you avoid colliding
with the many obstacles along the way.
In addition to the point bubbles, during your adventure you will also have the chance to collect souvenir costumes. Over 60 costumes in total can be found across sixteen levels and three games modes, all adding to your costume wardrobe. You can change your costume in between levels to add some “flair” to your little buddy. The costumes are fun and add a little twist to the gameplay
- Gameplay = 4/5 Fun addictive gameplay. However, once you add all the hats to your collection, there really is no point in playing the game over again unless you are chasing down a higher score.
- Audio/Visual = 3/5 The background music is very basic and can get a little annoying after a while. The graphics are comparable to similar titles such as Tiny Wings. This simple, yet addicting, game ranks up there with Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja as well.
- Value = 5/5 Mighty Fin is definitely worth the $.99 you spend. I would absolutely recommend this title!
- Overall = 4/5 Overall I really enjoyed playing this game. The gameplay is fun and always changing and seeing what hats you can collect is nice touch too. If there was one thing I could change about this game it would be to add checkpoints throughout each of the longer levels, that way you don’t have to completely start from scratch when Fin collides with a ship or gets eaten by a shark so close to the end of the level.
