On first glance at the trailer of a role playing-coop game created by the same makers as the “Elder Scrolls Saga” , I was naturally exited! WhoooFuckingHooooo!!! Break out the crystal and the condoms! This game is gonna be Legitmas! (Christmas+Legit=Legitmas) “Bethesda” of course never fails to impress. I loved “Morrowind” as well as “Oblivion” and of course on top of that they were the creators of “Fallout 3.” I believe Bethesda triumphs over almost any game maker when it comes to quality! Anyone who doesn’t love Bethesda either has serious emotional issues or is dealing with a strong crack addiction! (Not really, but still you are an idiot if you don’t love them.) We all know Bethesda just had the major release of a really great and different game in “Brink”, and also here soon they will be adding a very amazing game that gave me the “oh shit” feeling in the pit of my stomach. This game is known as “Rage” (So badass it makes Blake Griffin jump over tigers). Later this year on 11-11-11 Bethesda will be releasing the most anticipated game of the year, in my opinion the god of games!!! The Gandalf of all RPGs (Drum Roll Please) ….. “SKYRIM!!!!!!!” With all of these great titles under their belt and future titles with so much hype behind them, Bethesda filled the gap this nice little in-between title called “Hunted: The Demon’s Forge” ![]()
Now when I say little, I mean that this game does not seem like that big of a deal for Bethesda. HTDF really does not seem to have the hype behind it that it deserves. Don’t think for an instant that this game is a rip off of The Elder Scrolls. This is a different world with new characters, new and different coop game play, and new villains as well. The story reflects heavily on history which really adds a much more real world aspect to a fantasy role playing environment, and in my opinion makes the story far more relatable.
Our new world’s story begins in the land of Kala Moor with our two main characters, Cannoc and E’lara. Cannoc is your typical melee, sword wielding bad ass with a few minor masculinity issues. E’lara is your sexy ass fine elf ladie that specializes in ranged attacks. She is the bad ass of the game as far as I am concerned. Think Morrigan from Dragon Age meets the Pink Power Ranger. (GODS GIFT TO THE EARTH MY FRIEND!) Cannoc and E’lara are two mercenaries basically just looking for their next job. While searching for there next bag-o-gold they stumble upon the city of Difan. When they first enter the city they seem to be a little bit on the creeped out side, and upon further investigation they find that people are just disappearing and acting weird. These creatures called the WARGUARDS (which are elf /dwarf like beings) are taking people and corrupting the poor villagers for no particular reason. It is up to you to find out whats happening in the land of Kala Moor and to defeat those bastards that are stirring up trouble.![]()
HTDF seems to have a little bit of a darker feel to it as far as texture goes. Some of the imagery does remind me of “Fable” because it seems to be a tad cartoonish, but it does make it easier on the eye. The main characters are interesting and funny and the chemistry between them seems to be likable. The supporting cast seems to be great as well although I still do not know much about them. Another good and new idea that HTDF has in its arsenal of game play is the Crucible Feature, in which you can create your own dungeon crawls and play them out with your friends. Crucible lets you decide how many enemies you have in your dungeon crawl, how many times they spawn, how tough they are, and on top of that you decide your route as well. You can also put your dungeon crawls on the online community for you and your friends to come back and play on as well. Magic is another key feature in this game. You will gain more powers as you progress through the regular campaign by collecting some kind of stone. (Anyone up for some Ty The Tasmanian Tiger?)
All together I beleive Bethesda has a solid project in HTDF. It will be no “SKYRIM!!!!!!” but it will be able to hold me over until i get my real fix on 11-11-11! (CANT WAIT!) In the meantime, 6-1-11 I am going to check out Hunted: The Demon’s Forge!
