Bethesda Softworks Announces The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Earlier today Bethesda made their official announcement for The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim. Last week many people got a heads up though about this new title when a trailer was spotted during Spike TVs Video Game Awards (VGA). Well today they have just made the matter official as well as giving us a release date for when to expect the title.

Skyrim game director Todd Howard said, “It’s exciting finally to announce the game, we’ve been working for many years on Skyrim and the technology behind it. A new Elder Scrolls game has been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to show it off.” The best chance you will have to see them show it off will be in the February issue of Game Informer. They will be hosting a exclusive cover story which will detail new game features come early January 2011 when the issue ships, we will also post details here at CLNK of course as they become available. Below now though for your viewing pleasure is the clip which was first seen during the VGA's and is now being used as the official announcement trailer that Bethesda sent over to us here at CLNK.

At the end of the trailer you can actually spot the release date that Todd Howard and his team are working towards reaching. The game has been a huge fan favorite over the past years and come November 11th, 2011 this game is set to become a reality. As seen in the clip above it is apparent that Dragons will be present in the game. There was the introduction of a primary character who is called the Dragonborn. At this time it is unclear whether or not he/she is going to be a playable character or a NPC that players will assist throughout the story. Whichever route Skyrim takes I am sure it is going to be a huge crowd pleaser. The Elder Scrolls series has certain expectations fans are looking for. I am sure Bethesda will make sure it hits the mark while staying true to the great lore and storyline found in all Elder Scrolls titles. Whether your ready or not Dragons are coming and there is one that they fear, in their tongue, “Dovahkiin” Dragonborn!

Oh I love it! At 1:11 in the trailer it gives me chills. Brings in the music which has been the primary theme for all the Elder Scrolls. Instant rush of so many fun memories in the Elder Scroll Series… I can’t wait!
